Today's hike at Tilden and the little farm

Redwood hike

This park is on the border or Moraga and Oakland. We had a great hike!

Ant update

They are still alive and still building!

First Ski Trip!

Our first ski trip was a success!  We had a great time at Heavenly this past weekend.  The kids all did a full day of ski school, and Paul and I took a refresher lesson. We had to leave early on Monday and cancel our lessons as a big storm was rolling in.  We got out before the 3 feet of snow hit the mountain!  They had already closed many sections of the mountain by 8am when we were checking in, due to the 100mph winds at the top! Sorry, no pictures as it was snowing the whole time.  But will definitely do better at pics this weekend when we spend this day at Soda Springs.  The biggest downside to driving to Tahoe is traffic - and chain control!  We had to put chains on the car on Hwy 50 heading into South Tahoe.  (And then take them back off after the summit).  Messy, dirty work, and the lines backup ahead of chain control.

We've seen better houses

The boys made their gingerbread houses last night. Not our best showing!

Ants - lots of burrowing overnight

The boys (read not Kate) were thrilled to wake up to lots of ant activity. Our instructions say they are all girl ants. Tom has named them all Flower.

Kate's team won their league!

They did it--  1st place in NorCal League play with a solid win in the rain, wind, and cold!  Our Silver 2 League record: 8-1-1. All Alex could say as we walked back to the parking lot was  CHAMPIONS! Overall, the girls went 22-8-4 with games and tournaments since Spring. They had a wonderful season...  lots of winning, but also learned how to play hard and come back after losing a game. Too cold to get a picture today and not everyone was there, so here's one with pink jerseys.
