First Ski Trip!

Our first ski trip was a success!  We had a great time at Heavenly this past weekend.  The kids all did a full day of ski school, and Paul and I took a refresher lesson.

We had to leave early on Monday and cancel our lessons as a big storm was rolling in.  We got out before the 3 feet of snow hit the mountain!  They had already closed many sections of the mountain by 8am when we were checking in, due to the 100mph winds at the top!

Sorry, no pictures as it was snowing the whole time.  But will definitely do better at pics this weekend when we spend this day at Soda Springs.

The biggest downside to driving to Tahoe is traffic - and chain control!  We had to put chains on the car on Hwy 50 heading into South Tahoe.  (And then take them back off after the summit).  Messy, dirty work, and the lines backup ahead of chain control.

First Day 4th Grade!

Bye Bye Birdie!

Tom was Ed Sullivan in the production this weekend of Bye Bye Birdie!  Kate donned her sock-hop costume from 5th grade to embrace the spirit of the show. For those of you unfamiliar with the musical,  Bye Bye Birdie is set in 1958 and was influenced by Elvis Presley being drafted into the Army in 1957.    Congrats, Tom!!

100 days left

We have just over 100 days left in the UK.  The kids are super excited to get back to the States, and we are too.  We have had a great time here, but look forward to being 'home'. This is the last week of term, and only term 3 left!  The last term supposedly goes fast, as the weather improves, there are Suzuki concerts, the talent show, and lots of field trips. We have some travel still lined up, plus some visitors to join us - looking forward to seeing you, Auntie Sarah and Uncle Aaron!  Stayed tuned for pictures of our last few adventures. We are starting to get the ball rolling on movers and pet shippers and all that fun stuff.  And we have to have the whole flat cleaned once our stuff is out. One step at a time!
