Safe but smokey

We aren't in direct danger from the North Bay fires.  They are about 60+ miles and across the bay.  But with the winds and of course the sheer number of acres on fire (nearly 200,000) the smoke has become a serious concern.

Schools are in session, but no one is allowed to have outdoor recess or even to eat lunch outside.  Almost all athletic events have been cancelled for the past two days, and even events this weekend are being rescheduled.

The devastation in the Napa area is extreme.  The death toll rises hourly and still there are over 500 people reported missing.   Locally this morning the smoke seems a little better, but today's forecast winds are expected to bring more smoke our way.

First Day 4th Grade!

Orinda Country Cotillion

The Orinda Country  Cotillion  is a forty year community tradition sponsoring a series of seven evening dance classes and welcomes all seventh graders in Orinda.  The boys are girls are both broken into two sections, so every other dance is with the opposite boy group. Two of the dances are themed (a sock hop and country -western) and the rest are semi-formal.  Last night was the first dance in the seven dance series.  Kate and her friend Zoe had a great time.  They learned the fox trot and a line dance.  Seemed like fun!
