PE in CA

So PE is a pretty big deal in the CA schools.  The kids have about the same amount of classes as in IL, but they add in extra ones too.

Here are some differences:

  • Jack has 4th grade running club on Friday.
  • The boys all have double the recess time as in IL.
  • If Kate misses a PE class for being sick or something, she has to make up the exercise minutes!
  • The middle school kids run the mile every other week, and if they don't finish in the allowed time, have to run it again the same time at lunch!

First Day 4th Grade!

Orinda Country Cotillion

The Orinda Country  Cotillion  is a forty year community tradition sponsoring a series of seven evening dance classes and welcomes all seventh graders in Orinda.  The boys are girls are both broken into two sections, so every other dance is with the opposite boy group. Two of the dances are themed (a sock hop and country -western) and the rest are semi-formal.  Last night was the first dance in the seven dance series.  Kate and her friend Zoe had a great time.  They learned the fox trot and a line dance.  Seemed like fun!
