Wavus News - Day 3 (Saturday)

Book Day!!!
Yesterday was Book Day and the campers were encouraged to dress as their favorite book character for the day. Despite the rain in the morning, the girls made the most of every activity and kept their spirits up for when the sun finally camp out for lunch. There were a great variety of afternoon activities, including Mad Libs, Hunger Games Boot Camp, Paddle boarding, Quidditch, Ropes, Island Swim, and Watercolors on the Causeway. Following a delicious chop suey dinner, the girls prepared for their evening activity: The Hunger Games! The cabins tested their skills, acting as tributes from their districts, at five different stations consisting of shelter building, archery, chubby bunny, camouflage, and swimming. Little did they know there were some obstacles in their way as well! The girls showed great teamwork and excelled in proving their wilderness tripping abilities throughout the hour. Though each cabin fought hard for the title of “Victor,” Responsibility impressed Katniss, Effie Trinket, and the resident Hunger Games Officials and took home the trophies. After flag, the Junior Wavus girls settled into their sleeping bags on their primer on the Soccer Field. A truly fun day, everyone enjoyed being able to express their inner “Book Nerd!”

First Day 4th Grade!

Bye Bye Birdie!

Tom was Ed Sullivan in the production this weekend of Bye Bye Birdie!  Kate donned her sock-hop costume from 5th grade to embrace the spirit of the show. For those of you unfamiliar with the musical,  Bye Bye Birdie is set in 1958 and was influenced by Elvis Presley being drafted into the Army in 1957.    Congrats, Tom!!

100 days left

We have just over 100 days left in the UK.  The kids are super excited to get back to the States, and we are too.  We have had a great time here, but look forward to being 'home'. This is the last week of term, and only term 3 left!  The last term supposedly goes fast, as the weather improves, there are Suzuki concerts, the talent show, and lots of field trips. We have some travel still lined up, plus some visitors to join us - looking forward to seeing you, Auntie Sarah and Uncle Aaron!  Stayed tuned for pictures of our last few adventures. We are starting to get the ball rolling on movers and pet shippers and all that fun stuff.  And we have to have the whole flat cleaned once our stuff is out. One step at a time!
