One practice left

Today is the last practise for First Communion.  Here's a picture from Thursday night of Jack practising bringing up the gifts.  Hope he remembers not to 'crush the people in front of him' as Sister Pauline has mentioned.  We are very proud of him.  He's held his own in a huge class (54 kids) of mostly second graders and up, with an amazingly strict nun.  He knows everything he is supposed to know :).  Tonight is First Reconciliation, and not-surprisingly the list of sins rolls easily off his tongue... didn't listen to mom & dad, hit my brother, hit my sister, hit my other brother.  Well, hopefully he won't clam up.  We will pop a copy of the Act of Contrition in his pocket just in case.

We have been very happy with CCD at St. Mary's  Kate has enjoyed class and learned more about the church. Will has learned a ton, and already has all of his prayers memorised!  And of course it was a big year for Jack, with two sacraments in the next two days.

Since it is a Catholic Church in the middle of London, the congregation is mostly American and French.  But for some reason we don't know very many Southbank families there (non in CCD classes, and only a few in the congregation as a whole) but have met some ASL friends.

First Day 4th Grade!

Orinda Country Cotillion

The Orinda Country  Cotillion  is a forty year community tradition sponsoring a series of seven evening dance classes and welcomes all seventh graders in Orinda.  The boys are girls are both broken into two sections, so every other dance is with the opposite boy group. Two of the dances are themed (a sock hop and country -western) and the rest are semi-formal.  Last night was the first dance in the seven dance series.  Kate and her friend Zoe had a great time.  They learned the fox trot and a line dance.  Seemed like fun!
