Iron Man suit

Some way or another Tom convinced us he needed an Iron Man suit before his birthday. True to tradition, he has been wearing it non stop. Remember when Will was Spider man every day for over a month when he was this age??  At least that started around Halloween and was easier to explain.  We do have the movie tie-in now, but he does get some strange looks, especially when he is using his 'powers' on random strangers.

Speaking of those powers, I will re-cap what they consist of:  holding out his hands (see British Museum pics for good examples) and making a flying noise, which basically amounts to spitting on people.

We have caught him using markers on both his palms and his feet trying to make his powers.  You know, color in your whole palm and you might be able to fly. Wow, glad we don't have carpet here!  And glad I only shipped over the washable crayolas!

Speaking of the flying thing, that's what worries me the most.  Between shouting our 'falling with style' and pretending he's Iron Man, I keep thinking he is going to forget he can't really fly, and try to make it down the stairs a little too fast.  Knock on wood...

First Day 4th Grade!

Bye Bye Birdie!

Tom was Ed Sullivan in the production this weekend of Bye Bye Birdie!  Kate donned her sock-hop costume from 5th grade to embrace the spirit of the show. For those of you unfamiliar with the musical,  Bye Bye Birdie is set in 1958 and was influenced by Elvis Presley being drafted into the Army in 1957.    Congrats, Tom!!

100 days left

We have just over 100 days left in the UK.  The kids are super excited to get back to the States, and we are too.  We have had a great time here, but look forward to being 'home'. This is the last week of term, and only term 3 left!  The last term supposedly goes fast, as the weather improves, there are Suzuki concerts, the talent show, and lots of field trips. We have some travel still lined up, plus some visitors to join us - looking forward to seeing you, Auntie Sarah and Uncle Aaron!  Stayed tuned for pictures of our last few adventures. We are starting to get the ball rolling on movers and pet shippers and all that fun stuff.  And we have to have the whole flat cleaned once our stuff is out. One step at a time!
