Italy trip day 3 - Rome to Florence

Happy birthday to Kate!

We had a quiet morning with bath time and no tours. It was nice no to be in a rush.

Unfortunately the sun didn't last past our relaxing morning, and we ended up getting soaked in the rain. We Bought umbrellas from a street vendor :). After walking down to the Pantheon from our hotel, we stopped for coffee and gelato to get out of the rain. We then stopped for lunch near Trevi fountain. After that we got back to the hotel, but since we had already checked out we were sitting in the lobby with a couple of towels and a hair dryer!

We took a 4pm Eurostar to Florence. It was a nice train and pretty fast. Kids don't want to explore too much tonight but we will tomorrow - we had a yummy Tuscan dinner and did some window shopping. Florence is beautiful!

First Day 4th Grade!

Orinda Country Cotillion

The Orinda Country  Cotillion  is a forty year community tradition sponsoring a series of seven evening dance classes and welcomes all seventh graders in Orinda.  The boys are girls are both broken into two sections, so every other dance is with the opposite boy group. Two of the dances are themed (a sock hop and country -western) and the rest are semi-formal.  Last night was the first dance in the seven dance series.  Kate and her friend Zoe had a great time.  They learned the fox trot and a line dance.  Seemed like fun!
