Italy trip day 2 - Rome

We started the day by accidentally ordered way too many eggs - Paul ordered "four eggs scrambled to share". We got four plate of three eggs plus toast. There are worse way to start a morning than a dozen scrambled eggs.

We met our tour guide for the day and he started the introductions with "I hate kids". We all stood there staring at him and not knowing if it was a joke or not. We're still not sure.

Our luck wasn't great this morning with the Museum closed and then
Trevi fountain closed for cleaning. They only clean it once a month. (we did stop back later to toss in coins)

We explored the Catacombs of St. Calista and just made it for English tour. We saw the Appian way, the Moses statue by Michaelangelo, the agony & ecstasy statue, and the archeological dig of Trajan's column.

The weather is ok- 60 but cloudy. Still nice not to be wearing heavy coats. Tomorrow we will explore Rome on foot near the Spanish steps, and then a 2 hour train to Florence.

First Day 4th Grade!

Orinda Country Cotillion

The Orinda Country  Cotillion  is a forty year community tradition sponsoring a series of seven evening dance classes and welcomes all seventh graders in Orinda.  The boys are girls are both broken into two sections, so every other dance is with the opposite boy group. Two of the dances are themed (a sock hop and country -western) and the rest are semi-formal.  Last night was the first dance in the seven dance series.  Kate and her friend Zoe had a great time.  They learned the fox trot and a line dance.  Seemed like fun!
