Egypt Day 5

We spent the day explorin Aswan, starting at Philae island and temple. Then we went to see the Unfinished obelisk. We had to be careful as the whole place is very unforgiving but beautiful granite.

After that we took a 35 minute boat ride down the Nile to a Nubian village and went inside a house to have a cup of hibiscus tea. Kate and I had our hands painted with henna.

We went back to the hotel after that to rest for our New year's eve dinner at the hotel. It was fun to dress up but we didn't stay nearly until midnight. We didn't even make it to the belly dancer!

First Day 4th Grade!

Orinda Country Cotillion

The Orinda Country  Cotillion  is a forty year community tradition sponsoring a series of seven evening dance classes and welcomes all seventh graders in Orinda.  The boys are girls are both broken into two sections, so every other dance is with the opposite boy group. Two of the dances are themed (a sock hop and country -western) and the rest are semi-formal.  Last night was the first dance in the seven dance series.  Kate and her friend Zoe had a great time.  They learned the fox trot and a line dance.  Seemed like fun!
