Egypt Day 4 - part 2

We had a short, uneventful flight to Aswan, following the Nile. It was beautiful to see the dessert.

When we landed it was hot and sunny!

Aswan is so much smaller than Cairo but then again most cities are.

We started touring right away with a stop at the High Dam including the friendship monument built by the Russians and Egyptians. Then we drove over the older English dam for 1902. These structures regulate the Nile and make the water more usable.

After the Dam we checked into our hotel which is on an island in the Nile. It was a but scary at first as our boat ran head into another boat! Luckily a young boat hand pushed the boats away with little impact.

We checked out the pool but the sun was going down and it was getting chilly. So we went to the 13 floor restaurant to watch the sunset.

First Day 4th Grade!

Bye Bye Birdie!

Tom was Ed Sullivan in the production this weekend of Bye Bye Birdie!  Kate donned her sock-hop costume from 5th grade to embrace the spirit of the show. For those of you unfamiliar with the musical,  Bye Bye Birdie is set in 1958 and was influenced by Elvis Presley being drafted into the Army in 1957.    Congrats, Tom!!

100 days left

We have just over 100 days left in the UK.  The kids are super excited to get back to the States, and we are too.  We have had a great time here, but look forward to being 'home'. This is the last week of term, and only term 3 left!  The last term supposedly goes fast, as the weather improves, there are Suzuki concerts, the talent show, and lots of field trips. We have some travel still lined up, plus some visitors to join us - looking forward to seeing you, Auntie Sarah and Uncle Aaron!  Stayed tuned for pictures of our last few adventures. We are starting to get the ball rolling on movers and pet shippers and all that fun stuff.  And we have to have the whole flat cleaned once our stuff is out. One step at a time!
