Clotted cream and other British food

Have I mentioned to you my obsession with clotted cream?  It has to be the single-handedly most unhealthy food around here, and I love it.  Clotted cream is basically super fatty butter, and quite good as served traditionally with scones.  We usually only buy it once a month or so, because once the scones are gone, Anjie usually finds anything else to dip in it, including toast, strawberries, or really anything around.

But as far as unhealthy foods go, the UK is on both spectrums... biscuits (cookies) are a huge part of the culture, as well as beer, wine, and cheese.  But you can also get so much great fruit and veg all over the place at the stores and the street corners.  Ends up a pretty good balance.

First Day 4th Grade!

Bye Bye Birdie!

Tom was Ed Sullivan in the production this weekend of Bye Bye Birdie!  Kate donned her sock-hop costume from 5th grade to embrace the spirit of the show. For those of you unfamiliar with the musical,  Bye Bye Birdie is set in 1958 and was influenced by Elvis Presley being drafted into the Army in 1957.    Congrats, Tom!!

100 days left

We have just over 100 days left in the UK.  The kids are super excited to get back to the States, and we are too.  We have had a great time here, but look forward to being 'home'. This is the last week of term, and only term 3 left!  The last term supposedly goes fast, as the weather improves, there are Suzuki concerts, the talent show, and lots of field trips. We have some travel still lined up, plus some visitors to join us - looking forward to seeing you, Auntie Sarah and Uncle Aaron!  Stayed tuned for pictures of our last few adventures. We are starting to get the ball rolling on movers and pet shippers and all that fun stuff.  And we have to have the whole flat cleaned once our stuff is out. One step at a time!
