Rome trip

We have been back for nearly a week now, but the week has been crazy busy.  Our pictures from Rome are slowly uploading....

Rome was a lot of fun.  We ate a ton of pizza, pasta and gelato, and saw as many sites as possible in 48 hours. But after living in London for a whole three months, we have quickly adjusted to the more moderate temps.  It has been 55-60 and partly cloudy for weeks.  So, the 70s and sunny in Rome, coupled with tourists everywhere, and we were all a little too hot.

Rome isn't really a walking town as we are used to in so much of Europe.  We hired a car to take us around on Saturday, and that was our biggest sightseeing day.  In quick succession, we went to Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, walked through the Colleseum (talk about steps!) and then had a lunch break. After some yummy pizza we spent two hours in the Vatican and St. Peters.  Not a long time, but with 2 sleeping boys, no stroller, the heat, and all the people, it was long enough!

On Sunday we went back over to the Forum and explored the ruins, then of course ate more Italian food before heading back to the airport.

First Day 4th Grade!

Orinda Country Cotillion

The Orinda Country  Cotillion  is a forty year community tradition sponsoring a series of seven evening dance classes and welcomes all seventh graders in Orinda.  The boys are girls are both broken into two sections, so every other dance is with the opposite boy group. Two of the dances are themed (a sock hop and country -western) and the rest are semi-formal.  Last night was the first dance in the seven dance series.  Kate and her friend Zoe had a great time.  They learned the fox trot and a line dance.  Seemed like fun!
