Character Parade Tomorrow

Halloween is really not very big in the UK, at least not where we live.  They sell 'carving pumpkins' at some stores for about $6, but the are pretty much pie pumpkins.  And there are no big warehouse stores to purchase costumes.  A few decorations here and there, is about it.

Tomorrow at school, which is the last day before the 1 week long half-term break, the kids can dress up as a character from a book.  But they must bring in the book to support the costume.

Kate is going as Mary from Little House, Jack as Harry Potter, and Will as Flat Stanley's little brother from the Karate episode.  Since we left all of our costumes and dress up clothes in the States, it is a little hard to get it all together, but I think we have enough figured out.

Kate is wearing an apron and putting her hair in braids, J is wearing his HP scarf (his glasses are here somewhere, but of course not turning up!) and W is wearing a Taekwondo uniform.  Pics later.

First Day 4th Grade!

Orinda Country Cotillion

The Orinda Country  Cotillion  is a forty year community tradition sponsoring a series of seven evening dance classes and welcomes all seventh graders in Orinda.  The boys are girls are both broken into two sections, so every other dance is with the opposite boy group. Two of the dances are themed (a sock hop and country -western) and the rest are semi-formal.  Last night was the first dance in the seven dance series.  Kate and her friend Zoe had a great time.  They learned the fox trot and a line dance.  Seemed like fun!
