Here are some of the new terms we hear and sometimes say.
- Alight - get off the Tube, or anything else you are on
- Fancy - To like the other day Kate said, "I don't fancy going up this hill."
- Mind the gap - Watch your step, especially when getting off Tube - sometimes it is a foot height difference.
- Half-ten (or any hour) - Instead of 10:30, they say half 10.
- Military time - very big here. 1 is 13, 2 14 etc.
- Bin - garbage can
- Bits - small pieces. Mommy, please don't leave any bits in my jelly for my sandwich
- Brilliant - very good. What a brilliant idea
- cheers - goodbye
- zebra -crosswalk
- lift - elevator
- washing up - doing dishes / dish detergent, etc.
