Friday was Mad Scientist Day at Wavus

Today was Mad Scientist day! Throughout the day we took part in science experiments such as building volcanoes, chairs out of newspaper and cardboard boats. The weather was gorgeous and it was the first day in a few days that we’ve had without a single raindrop. The girls had sandwiches for lunch, finishing with fudgesicles, and took part in activities such as making plastic out of glue, creating salt pendulums, and turning house hold cooking supplies into a lava lamp. This was the first full day of Junior Wavus and the energy was at an all-time high with girls running around in scientist attire. For the evening activity we played a game of manhunt, infected lab mice versus the scientists. Everybody won and participated in a crazy dance party!

First Day 4th Grade!

Orinda Country Cotillion

The Orinda Country  Cotillion  is a forty year community tradition sponsoring a series of seven evening dance classes and welcomes all seventh graders in Orinda.  The boys are girls are both broken into two sections, so every other dance is with the opposite boy group. Two of the dances are themed (a sock hop and country -western) and the rest are semi-formal.  Last night was the first dance in the seven dance series.  Kate and her friend Zoe had a great time.  They learned the fox trot and a line dance.  Seemed like fun!
