Country Day at Wavus! (Monday 7/9)

Today's theme was 'Country Wav'. We started the day by raising the flag in our flannels and denim and reflecting on the idea of kindness. The girls were encouraged to say please and thank you more frequently and to lend a helping hand to those in need. It was sunny and clear skies all day and all the girls enjoyed participating in outdoor activities, and listening to country music at meal time. The evening activity was square dancing, and the girls all learned three dances: a basic square dance, the cotton-eye joe, and the hoe-down throw down. We practiced all the dances outside on the sports field overlooking the lake as the sun set. Everyone enjoyed all the fresh air and fun times. At the end of the evening we lowered the flag and gave thought to our actions throughout the day and all that we have to be grateful here at Wavus.

First Day 4th Grade!

Orinda Country Cotillion

The Orinda Country  Cotillion  is a forty year community tradition sponsoring a series of seven evening dance classes and welcomes all seventh graders in Orinda.  The boys are girls are both broken into two sections, so every other dance is with the opposite boy group. Two of the dances are themed (a sock hop and country -western) and the rest are semi-formal.  Last night was the first dance in the seven dance series.  Kate and her friend Zoe had a great time.  They learned the fox trot and a line dance.  Seemed like fun!
