House packed and ready to ship

The movers finished the house today after another 3 or so hours.  They actually didn't have the cool semi ship container today for some reason, so had to load a regular moving truck.  After they left here they were going back to the yard, then unload the truck and reload it all on the sea container.  There is also a separate container for our air shipment that will hopefully be in London in a couple of weeks. Did I mention it was 95 today here?  I think they all dropped about 10 lbs working today.

The house is packed, but far from empty.  It feels very uncluttered, but not very homey.  Much like it is staged for showings.  We took all the personal items, but left most of the furniture.

Kate is most upset because she has to sleep on the air mattress for the next two weeks.  Paul and I have reclaimed our old queen bed for London, so she was left without a bed.  Camp is very soon, though, so I think she will make it :).

Not taking too much furniture has been a good idea... Lyndurst could fit a lot, but we still don't have the lease signed.  Many of the other properties we were looking at were much smaller.  Lyndhurst is about 2/3 the size of our house (not counting basement), but over 4 floors instead of two. I also haven't been there, so it is hard to visualize how to arrange furniture from just a few agent taken pictures.  Hopefully this town house will be the one... every morning first thing I look eagerly at my email inbox to see an update... perhaps tomorrow.

First Day 4th Grade!

Orinda Country Cotillion

The Orinda Country  Cotillion  is a forty year community tradition sponsoring a series of seven evening dance classes and welcomes all seventh graders in Orinda.  The boys are girls are both broken into two sections, so every other dance is with the opposite boy group. Two of the dances are themed (a sock hop and country -western) and the rest are semi-formal.  Last night was the first dance in the seven dance series.  Kate and her friend Zoe had a great time.  They learned the fox trot and a line dance.  Seemed like fun!
