London Vacation 2011 - Tuesday 12/27

London Vacation 2011 - Tuesday 12/27

Somewhere in the middle of the ocean the flight attendants decided it was breakfast time, and so started getting us used to the idea that we were going to land at 11:30am, instead of 5:30.  We let the kids sleep until the end, but again I was enjoying the food :).

Hooray!  We made it to London!  It is a crazy long walk from the plane to baggage, but we made it.  Our bags were there, and we were off to go through customs.  Our plane tickets totally helped here, letting us bypass a HUGE line for a nice short line.  Very helpful.

Since we knew we would be tired we booked the car transfer to the hotel.  A nice Englishmen held up a sign with our hotel name, and he took us to a beautiful Mercedes people mover.  A half hour or so later with J an W both asleep we get to Claridge's.  We booked it because it is in a great shopping location of Mayfair, walking to both Regent St. and Oxford St. shops, and mostly because they were offering a discount of a kids room free!  Can't beat that.

We checked in, explored our rooms, had some coffee and water, and headed out to Regent Street to the biggest toy store on earth, Hamleys!

Everyone is tired, so we head back to the rooms, take a nap, and then order room service.  And they have Cartoon Network, so the kids are mesmerized.

First Day 4th Grade!

Orinda Country Cotillion

The Orinda Country  Cotillion  is a forty year community tradition sponsoring a series of seven evening dance classes and welcomes all seventh graders in Orinda.  The boys are girls are both broken into two sections, so every other dance is with the opposite boy group. Two of the dances are themed (a sock hop and country -western) and the rest are semi-formal.  Last night was the first dance in the seven dance series.  Kate and her friend Zoe had a great time.  They learned the fox trot and a line dance.  Seemed like fun!
