London Vacation 2011 - Thursday 12/29

London Vacation 2011  - Thursday 12/29
This morning we tried some new breakfast plans,  Anjie walks the 2 blocks over to Starbucks for coffee and croissants.  London is so very quiet in the morning.  9am and it is barren.  We are quickly adjusting to the later-day town, and are just starting our mornings at 9.  We aren't ready to actually leave our hotel room until 11am, and then are looking for breakfast!  In London sun rise is after 8am and sunset is around 4 something. It makes for a pretty short day.

The weather was really fantastic while we were in town.  Near 50 most days, and only some rain.  Very comfortable for sight seeing.

This morning (ok 11) we started at the Borough street market.  We bought Iberico ham, yummy cheese, jam donuts, fresh juice.   It was fun to walk around the venders.  But we were getting hungry, so headed over to a little diner for breakfast/lunch at noon.  After coffee, hot chocolate and eggs we are back in a taxi, over London Bridge and to the Tower of London.

The Tower is very cool, but Tom and Will are starting to get cranky.  Back to the hotel to rest!
We tried going out shopping, but Selfridges is just as crowded as Harrods was, and the designer shopping just isn't my thing.  Besides, it is raining.  Back to the hotel for room service.

First Day 4th Grade!

Bye Bye Birdie!

Tom was Ed Sullivan in the production this weekend of Bye Bye Birdie!  Kate donned her sock-hop costume from 5th grade to embrace the spirit of the show. For those of you unfamiliar with the musical,  Bye Bye Birdie is set in 1958 and was influenced by Elvis Presley being drafted into the Army in 1957.    Congrats, Tom!!

100 days left

We have just over 100 days left in the UK.  The kids are super excited to get back to the States, and we are too.  We have had a great time here, but look forward to being 'home'. This is the last week of term, and only term 3 left!  The last term supposedly goes fast, as the weather improves, there are Suzuki concerts, the talent show, and lots of field trips. We have some travel still lined up, plus some visitors to join us - looking forward to seeing you, Auntie Sarah and Uncle Aaron!  Stayed tuned for pictures of our last few adventures. We are starting to get the ball rolling on movers and pet shippers and all that fun stuff.  And we have to have the whole flat cleaned once our stuff is out. One step at a time!
