London Vacation 2011 - Monday 12/26

London Vacation 2011 - Monday 12/26

We have a 9:30pm flight to London, so we have all day to play with new Christmas toys and pack.  It also gives the kids plenty of opportunities to ask if we are leaving yet!  We plan to leave around 6.  There is no snow, good weather, and holiday traffic, so the drive should be easy.

We get all packed up, 2 strollers, 2 suitcases, all the kids.  We are off!  A few blocks later I realize I forgot my diaper bag, whoops.

Ok, off again!  And of course accident traffic on 88.  Still have plenty of time.  And Megamind is entertaining the awake children. Tom fell asleep.

Easy parking at the airport, and no one in line at our check-in lane!  Since the flight is 9+ hours, we booked our tickets in business class.  A little bit of a delay in security.  Kids under 12 can now leave on their shoes, which helps a little, but it is still quite a show to watch the 6 of us get through security.

All right!  In the airport, with about 2 hours until flight time.  Our tickets allowed us into the AA lounge and it was awesome!  Since it was late, the lounge was mostly empty, and we were able to find a wing to ourselves.  Juice, wine, snacks, massage chairs.... yes please!  And it was fun to walk around and watch all the planes.  The time passed very quickly, and off to the gate for boarding.

By now it is 9, and getting late for the kids.  The flight was great.  Business class makes it quite a lot of fun.  Champagne to take off, two big meals, reclining seats, personal video players, noise cancelling headphones...  The kids all slept quite a lot of the flight.  I sat and ate and watched movies, but Paul was smart and tried to sleep.

First Day 4th Grade!

Orinda Country Cotillion

The Orinda Country  Cotillion  is a forty year community tradition sponsoring a series of seven evening dance classes and welcomes all seventh graders in Orinda.  The boys are girls are both broken into two sections, so every other dance is with the opposite boy group. Two of the dances are themed (a sock hop and country -western) and the rest are semi-formal.  Last night was the first dance in the seven dance series.  Kate and her friend Zoe had a great time.  They learned the fox trot and a line dance.  Seemed like fun!
